As you may have noticed from the sudden influx in Portsmouth content on my blog; I went to Portsmouth! It was during this visit that myself and my blogger pal Hebe were kindly invited by the team at Emirates Spinnaker Tower to sample the delightful Royal High Tea to celebrate Queen Victoria's 200th birthday! It was a wonderful experience. I am no stranger to Afternoon Tea, it is one of my favourite things to do here in the UK. I have a whole section dedicated to Afternoon Tea here on EBONI + IVORY should you wish to delve deeper into my obsession!
Queen Victoria's Royal High Tea
"Discover a majestic experience to remember in celebration of Queen Victoria’s 200th Birthday! Spy Queen Victoria’s beloved summer home, Osborne House, within our spectacular view, stretching up to 23 miles across Portsmouth, Isle of Wight and beyond!"
The Afternoon Tea includes:
A selection of sandwiches
An assortment of sweet treats
Fruit scones, jam and clotted cream
A selection of teas and coffee
I had a lovely time admiring the views across Portsmouth and beyond. I especially loved trying to point out places we had been, where we were heading the next day and where we were staying the night! When the afternoon tea arrived, attention swiftly changed from sea to scones. We were treated to a wonderful selection of vegetarian and pescatarian sandwiches; from salmon to egg mayo and cheese. I also loved the cake selection - I am a huge macaroon love, so these went down well. Of course, all was served with a tea of my choosing - there was a good selection to suit all tastes. I went simple with an English breakfast tea (I like to think that's how Queen Vic herself did it).Thank you very much to our Spinnaker Tower hosts, we had a great time!
Have you ever had a traditional British Afternoon Tea, High Tea or Cream Tea? What is your favourite part?
