I was recently invited to experience a stay at the lovely room2 in Southampton. I was delighted at the prospect of escaping busy London for a night and head down to Southampton with a spring in my step!
This is my honest experience of a gifted stay at room2.
Room2 is located just opposite Queens Park and within walking distance of the national express bus station, Southampton Central train station and the main shopping centre and high street. In fact, Southampton is, generally, a very “walkable” place, which is very important to a non-driver like me! Otherwise, the Uber fares seem to be reasonable from what I saw, and the local bus routes are thorough.

Living Room / Cafe
As you enter the foyer, you are immediately met by a beautiful cafe/bar area that doubles up as the breakfast room come morning time. I love the chilled out, hipster coffee shop vibes. The sun catches the window seats beautifully during the day and the cosy faux fireplace makes for the perfect place to have a chill drink in the evening. Room2 describes itself as a "hometel" and that is certainly the vibe in this Living Room-type space. I can imagine this would be a great place to for a meeting over coffee or an intimate dinner date.Room 115
A short lift up to the first floor takes you to our room: 115, and in my (slightly biased) opinion, the most beautiful room in the building! 115 is a “Master Loft” style room and comes in at £149 per night, which is reasonable, considering what you are getting with this fab suite! The grand king-size bed is at the heart of the room, set against a peachy backdrop (which doubled up as an amazing photoshoot backdrop!) The wall- length windows face Queens Park, not only giving beautiful views, but allowing the most gorgeous sun light to flood the room. But don’t worry, the black-out curtains mean that your sleep won’t be disrupted if, like me, you’re lie-in inclined!
Spin around and you are met with a cabin style staircase ladder that leads you to the second bed, in the loft! This is a cute little space (or “den” as I described it) is the perfect size for two more people. Then at the bottom of the ladder, there is a kitchenette, which you can use to make yourself a cup of tea or coffee, microwave popcorn or cook a full blown meal with access to your own hob and fridge. The bathroom continues in the nautical theme with a cute frosted cabin window in the door. I loved how large the shower was and the water pressure was perfect . The soap, shower gel and hair products provided were notably great, I love the brand room2 have chosen. Fancy extras include an iron and ironing board, a safe, hair dryer and a box of random bits for the room; including a deck of cards! I also appreciated the TV and radio, which was playing smooth FM as we arrived (how did they know?!) - a lovely touch!
My overall experience at room2 Southampton was extremely positive. I would highly recommend room 115 as your home away from home at room2, and say that I sent you!
